We are looking for some fierce female modern/contemporary dancers to join our company and perform in our upcoming show Difficult Women (based on the stories found in Roxane Gay's book). We start rehearsing late May and the show will be going up early December.
We are seeking dancers with a strong background in modern or contemporary dance. Must have great technique and performative skills. A background in acting a plus. Must have performance experience, have great work ethic and communication skills and be extremely professional.
Rehearsals are unpaid (2-4 hours per week), however dancers get $50 stipend per performance. As company grows and receives more funding stipend rates will go up. And dancers will have access to all footage from film projects.
The Audition will take place on Saturday May 18th, from 6:15pm-8pm. Sign-in starts at 6pm. The location is at Movement Research's new Ninth Street Studio, inside the 122 Community Center: 150 1st Avenue (on the corner of 1st Avenue and Ninth Street).
The Audition will be comprised of a short guided movement improv and learning and performing a choreographed piece.

Modern Contemporary Dance Classes
April Series: Dance Artistry
Discounted Rate of $7 per Class!!!!!!
Founder and Artistic Director of KGDDance, Katya Danko will be teaching a contemporary modern class series this April!
This class focuses on the modern/contemporary dancer as an artist, creating a world the audience can believe. After a thorough full body warm up, Katya uses her theater background to guide dancers through a series of movement improvisations. Using specific improvisational techniques, each dancer will be able to explore his/her own way of moving and develop his/her artistic and creative muscles. Finding a mind/body connection to their own movement dancers are able to specify the world they are in and enhance their performance quality. For the last section of class we apply these techniques to choreography. Allowing the dancer to play around with how they perform someone else’s movement in order to make it personal and captivating.
With her instructional specificity and passion for dance, Katya creates an environment of non judgemental growth. This class is great for beginner/intermediate level dancers who want to advance their movement and performative skills. Or for the more advanced dancers aiming to fine tune their work quality.
If you have any questions about these classes you can reach out to Katya through firstname.lastname@example.org
